$3.5B

investment benefiting Victoria’s west

Regional Rail Link was a landmark project to remove congestion and uplift network capacity by untangling Victoria’s metro and regional train lines. The project included creation of a new 47km railway through the suburbs of Western Melbourne with a further 20km of brownfields rail works through the busiest parts of the Victorian Rail Network.

Concentrated in the growth areas of Melbourne’s west, it was delivered using multiple interfacing work packages in a complex stakeholder, operational and regulatory environment. It was at the time, the largest infrastructure project in Australia and went on to win Infrastructure Project of the Year at the National Infrastructure Awards in 2014.
