Cross River Rail will unlock a bottleneck in South East Queensland’s transport network by creating a new 10km high capacity railway line in Brisbane. The project includes construction of a 5.9km twin tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD inclusive of four new high capacity underground stations and redevelopment of two over ground stations. The project will allow more trains to run more often, integrate with new busways and ease pressure on existing road networks.

The project is being delivered through two major infrastructure partnerships with the private sector. The Tunnel, Stations and Development PPP will deliver main underground sections of the project while the Rail, Integration and Systems alliance will manage the design, supply and installation of all supporting rail systems and integrate Cross River Rail into Queensland Rail’s existing train network.
