Gold Coast Light Rail represents one of the largest transport infrastructure projects in Gold Coast history and a major step in transforming the city into a modern, accessible destination. The project included procurement of 14 new trams delivering fast, frequent and affordable services to 16 light rail stations along a new 13km route.
Stage 1 of the Light Rail runs from the Gold Coast University Hospital to Broadbeach South and was delivered under an 18-year PPP contract encompassing construction, financing and operation. As Queensland’s first light rail system, the project successfully created a frequent and reliable alternative to car travel and a fully-integrated public transport system for the Gold Coast.
