G78 Army Learning Technologies

G78 – Army Learning Technologies

forms part of the Australia Army’s G7 (Forces Command)

G7 is responsible

for individual and collective training across the conventional Army, from recruit training to preparation for operations

The 2024 National Defence Strategy

highlights the importance of a well-trained and capable Army, and the G7 plays a key role in ensuring this

The framework of Army’s (and broader Defence) workforce capability training system has been largely unchanged for over 50 years, yet the complexity of new capabilities and the levels of proficiency required to operate them has increased exponentially. However, the size and deep-seated culture of the organisation has limited its ability to adapt the training system accordingly. Army is revolutionising its training system through the Future Ready Training System (FRTS) Program. This program aimed to increase training capacity, simplify design, and deliver agile learning solutions at the point of need, with a focus on enhancing the Army’s use of the ADELE Learning Management System powered by MOODLE.

IAG’s Defence and National Security (DNS) team was engaged to provide strategic guidance and advice around the employment of the MOODLE-based “ADELE” learning management system (LMS) to enhance Defence’s personnel capability. IAG demonstrated both depth of systems knowledge and Learning and Development Management expertise whilst rapidly ascertaining methods of control to support effective system governance through collaboration with the system sponsor, Directorate of Learning Technologies – Army.

IAG coupled our systems-level knowledge with data analytic tools that were readily available with Defence’s ICT environment, namely Microsoft PowerBI, to provide comprehensive business intelligence and data analytics services.
