The project will remove 85 level crossings, deliver new train stations and improve public transport capacity, traffic flows and pedestrian and cycling links at key locations throughout Melbourne’s transport network. This is a coordinated program of unprecedented scale that will deliver significant gains to Melbourne’s metropolitan transport system, economic productivity, and to local communities through urban renewal projects.
The works are being delivered under both Alliance and D&C agreements with the majority of level crossing removals being delivered by five large program alliances. These include South Eastern Program Alliance, North Western Program Alliance, Western Program Alliance, Southern Program Alliance and Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance.
