SEA 1300: Navy Guided Weapons
Involves the acquisition
of Kongsberg Defence Australia’s Naval Strike Missile (NSM), Navy’s replacement for the ageing Harpoon weapon system
NSM
has a 120kg warhead with over 200km range at more than 300 meters/second.
The project seeks opportunities
to broaden Australia’s weapons manufacturing base
SEA 1300 will deliver technologically advanced maritime strike, integrated air and missile defence weapons and undersea warfare in the short to medium term. The project includes long-range maritime strike missiles, extended-range surface-to-air missiles and advanced lightweight torpedoes.
These capabilities will:
- integrate into the Combat Management Systems being acquired for Navy’s present and future Fleet;
- be interoperable with other ADF assets and those of Australia’s allies
- ensure Navy’s guided weapon capabilities are lethal and serve as a deterrent to adversaries threatening Australia or our national interests.
IAG Defence and National Security is providing specialist guided weapons expertise, maritime engineering, cyber security and commercial advice to the program.
