The Moreton Bay Rail Link project created a new rail link connecting the rapidly growing Moreton Bay region to the greater Brisbane rail network at Petrie. The project was funded under a tripartite agreement between the Local, State and Federal Governments and involved complex coordination with critical stakeholders, rail operators and the safety regulator.

The project included 12.6km of new dual-track railway lines, new rail and road overpasses, installation of a new signalling system, upgrades to Petrie station and the construction of six new stations at Kippa-Ring, Rothwell, Mango Hill East, Mango Hill, Murrumba Downs and Kallangur.
